Varietas delectat... I was really curious what this tale is about. It was so different from the works, novels or short stories I have read, it was a real surprise. Entertaining, sometimes funny, sometimes sad. I can hardly define the style, it sounds when someone starts to tell a story or tale.as it happens. Simple. Easy to comprehend. It is so heartwarming to read about everyday people, they failures or succsses.Product details

Raggy Arsed Lads Allan Finlay 9781906722357 Books Reviews
This book was a fantastic read and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it; I could not put it down until I was through. It was inspiring, funny and I particularly liked the perseverance of the main character. I highly recommend!
Being a Yorkshireman myself, the characters in this story have a familiar ring to them. I feel I have known them personally, and their humour takes me back to my own hometown and the mining community in which I grew up. Mr Finlay writes with a 'no-nonsense' style, revealing the kind of situations that give rise to the tough, yet sincere outlook, typical of the folks and the times. As the author hints, this is a true story of tragedy, aspiration, determination, failure and resolve. His characters have the good sense to tackle life with home-spun wisdom, and to muddle their way through each inevitable obstacle. Yes, to coin a phrase, it's one of those books you just cannot put down.
At the end of the book the author said 'if you enjoyed this, please be kind enough to write a review on '. Well I did enjoy it and I am happy to give it a good review! This is an easy enjoyable read about a group of characters you wouldn't find now. Hard work and a sense of humour got these lads to where this story ends, and Tommy McCue made good on his promise to be a success. Even Kippers pigeons had a happy ending! Thanks Mr. Finlay, I hope there's more stories to come.
Seemed interesting, it was interesting. Glad to read a nice book with a happy ending -) Thank you for a good book!
What an amazing read this turned out to be. After reading the snippets posted on FB, my interest was piqued, and as I was flying to Florida I decided that it would be a perfect tome to alleviate boredom and prevent me from annoying other passengers.
I was not disappointed, its wonderful gentle humour, and insights into a world sadly long since disappeared under a wagon load of political correctness and largely ludicrous health and safety regulations kept me spellbound for the whole flight to the point where I swear I could smell the exhaust fumes. It also served as a poignant reminder of my own "Big Barry", a 6' 8" Sheffielder who had a laugh you could hear clean across the Pennines - perhaps he was looking over my shoulder as I read it, and I'm sure he was laughing with me
Liked the insite into a mans life from boy to a lovely man. Funny in parts. I didnt put it down untill id finished. I HAVE RECOMENDED TO FRIENDS N FAMILY.
Funniest story in years... .I came from yorkshire.. ..I understand!..... Still giggling. Natural sense of humour of those raggedy lads.
